The "beast" at blue hour. Just a few minutes after sunset, the massive AT&SF #2926 steams in the yard in Albuquerque, NM under lights provided by Lerro Photography. The recently restored 4-8-4 is the second largest operable steam locomotive in the United States (after UP's Big Boy #4014). Owned and operated by the New Mexico Steam Locomotive and Railroad Historical Society, it is expected that 2926 will eventually be used in excursion service, most likely on state-owned trackage that is used by New Mexico's "Rail Runner" commuter trains, which operate mainly between Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
