Charging into the tunnel. Peak fall colors are still a couple of weeks away as a short excursion train from Connecticut's Valley Railroad charges north into the very dense "tree tunnel" at Dock Road, near Milepost 9 in Chester, CT. On the point this fine morning is the venerable VALE #97, a 1926 vintage Alco Consolidation that has been a fixture here for more than half a century. In this long tele, shot from perhaps halfway between Dock Road and Ferry Road, the train is performing for an October 2024, private photo shoot, organized by Dak Dillon Photography.
