Coffee On The Go. For a number of overnights and a full weekend at the beginning of November, 2024, the A lIne was rerouted to use 96 Street-2 Avenue as its northern terminal while the Q was cut back to 42 Street-Times Square to accommodate a work project. This was the first opportunity to see Kawasaki R-211A cars operate over the 2nd Avenue Subway in revenue service. The A Line also has the distinction of using the oldest operating cars in the system, Pullman-Standards R-46s. On Saturday, November 9, 2024, there was an opportunity to see these cars along with the Bombardier R-179s together on the Upper East Side. Note the coffee shop on the platform, an unusual feature in the NYC subway.
