Running nearly 18 hours behind schedule, Amtrak's westbound Southwest Chief makes its way through Hackberry at dusk as it nears the crew changing location of Kingman, AZ. There, a Los Angeles crew will take the train the rest of the way to LA Union Station. This train did hit a vehicle between Raton and Las Vegas, NM; resulting in a 13 hour delay. Traffic congestion on the Transcon and adding a BNSF locomotive (results in a slower max speed of 70 MPH vs 90 MPH) added onto the delays.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
