The photo captures the Aqua Claudia Aqueduct, completed back in 52 AD. Stretching 69 kilometers, it once supplied water to the Eternal City and now stands tall, a proud reminder of bygone eras. From here, from one of the distant arches reaching beyond the horizon, begins my most vivid memory.
It was here, among the monumental ruins of the Roman Empire, that I met the dawn after perhaps the most incredible night of my life - a David Gilmour concert. Tired but inspired, I climbed one of the arches. There, in complete silence, I listened to the recorded setlist again. And then... the sunrise. It began during the opening notes of High Hopes. At that moment, everything around me - seemed to merge into a single whole. I stood there, unable to look away, for nearly 20 minutes, forgetting about everything else.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
