A typical SNIM locomotive operation on the ore train route between the port of Nouadhibou and the mines in the Zouérate area and vice versa. Two SDL40-2 locomotives are often used together with one of the six existing SD70ACS locomotives, which together have a good 10,000 HP. The empty ore train, with loaded water tank cars from Boulenouar to Zouérate at the front, is pulled by the SDL40-2 CC # 114, SD70ACS CC # 125 and the SDL40-2 # 109. The locomotives CC # 101 to # 110, delivered from 1981 to 1988, are still in the green paint scheme. In the background you can see the 633 a.s.l. high monolith Ben Amira, the second largest monolith in the world, which rises over 400 meters above the desert.
