On October 5th, 2024, Metro-North Railroad's self-propelled Engineering Inspection Vehicle, "IC 2020", sits next to a NITEQ RRM-5000 electric battery shunter inside of Croton Harmon Shops. Both specialty vehicles feature angled cab windows for better lower-area visibility. IC 2020 was commissioned by Metro-North in 2016 and completed by ENSCO Incorporated in 2020. It features the latest laser, optical and inertial sensor systems to analyze the condition of the rail and track infrastructure, alerting onboard Metro-North engineering specialists to any track anomalies.
