Remarks & Notes |
VR class Dv12 diesel hydraulics 2529 and 2612 have arrived from Seinäjoki as local freight train 65580 to the recently opened Seinäjoki timber terminal to pickup a rake of 24 loaded cars bound for some paper mill or pulp factory somewhere in Finland. The new terminal has two loading tracks with a roadbed for a third track if needed in the future. Overhead catenary was also built right up to the loading area for electric traction, although as of writing this there haven't been any sightings of electric locomotives switching the terminal. To provide enough seperation between the loading cranes and 25kV 50Hz AC catenary, the electric locomotives must use their furthest pantograph from the cars when pushing empties for loading to avoid situations where the pantograph gets damaged as it goes past the ending point of the overhead wire. For an overview of the area, see this shot of mine from spring when the terminal was still under construction: https://www.railpictures.net/photo/856484/ |
