As a Union Pacific freight crosses the Kansas River on the Highline Bridge, a BNSF Railway freight crosses into Missouri below it. BNSF Dash 9-44CW 670 is in Missouri, but Dash 9-44CW 663 (and the train) is still in Kansas as it heads north. Both locomotives are former Santa Fe diesels, as evident by the 22-year-old paint on 670, while 663 has been repainted in BNSF's "Heritage I" scheme. This is Kansas City's West Bottoms neighborhood, on the east bank of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers, and is also where the state line between these two states runs. And if you're in Kansas City for a brief time and want to see a lot of trains in a short span of time, the West Bottoms (also known as Santa Fe Junction) is the place to go!
