Remarks & Notes |
The timetable change of december 15th brought many changes to Finnish train services. Propably the biggest of them was the removal of Dm12 diesel railcars from the recently electrified Ylivieska-Iisalmi line. As a replacement VR ended it's legendary locomotive hauled rush hour commuter service and replaced it with Sm2 EMU's and moved it's remaining fleet of eight Eil and Eilf commuter coaches to it's Oulu depot, from which two coaches at a time will serve the line while also giving VR one extra Dm12 unit to place on it's ill fated newly branded Railbus services to work in Haapamäki and Joensuu areas. Sadly the train is limited to only two cars due to plaform lenghts designed for Dm12 operations, but still it's a big improvement in passenger comfort. The Dm12 railcars are known to be crowded and unreliable, so I'd say this is the right direction! In the photo regional train service H 495 from Iisalmi to Ylivieska stopping at Haapajärvi. It's the first electric passenger service in the direction Iisalmi-Ylivieska |
