Remarks & Notes
Locomotive Ge 4/4 II # 626 "Malans" of the Rhaetian Railway, built in 1984 by SLM and BBC, got a new cobaltblue/ivory paintscheme to match the parlor cars in september 2024. The design of the locomotive was made by graphique artiste Michaela Hardmeier in cooperation with the RhB, the desire came from the association Pro Salonwagen RhB, to have a faster locomotive then the "Crocodile" Ge 6/6 I in front of the Alpine Classic Pullman Express (ACPE) cars. A three-dimensional signet “Festina Lente” ("make haste slowly") made of cast brass was attached to the lower half of the body, as it is also attached to the saloon cars, and which was specially created in 1998 by Süsskind SGD in Chur for the renovated RhB saloon coaches, based on the CIWL signet. Ge 4/4 II # 626 is in the normal duty with freight or the Glacier Express trains. This day, she pulls the PE 920 GLACIER EXPRESS Zermatt-St.Moritz from Chur to St.Moritz, between Cazis and Thusis. The Glacier Express circulated this day between Zermatt and Andermatt and from Chur to St.Moritz, because the line of the Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn was interrupted between Oberalppass and Dieni due to a derailment on 23th december. We are in the Domleschg region, rich of castles and ruins of old fortresses. In the background Rietberg castle at Pratval (right) and the ruins of Neu Sins (13th century) at Canova (left).
