The Ge 4/4 III # 644 "Savognin" of the Rhaetian Railway was built in 1994 by SLM and ABB with 2400 kW and 100 km/h maximum velocity. On June 29, 2022, the locomotive was presented with a new advertising dress for the planned world record run for the longest passenger train on narrow gauge, with the inscription: World record attempt October 29, 2022. After this world record was actually achieved on this date, the address was changed from “World record attempt” to “World record journey”. The locomotive is pushing IR 1140 on line IR38 from St. Moritz via the Albula line to Chur, between Thusis and Cazis. We are in the Domleschg region, rich of castles and ruins of old fortresses. In the background Rietberg castle at Pratval (right, 17/18th century) and the ruins of Neu Sins (13th century) at Canova (left).
