SEPTA Wires. On the morning of Saturday, August 11, 2024, SPAX 61 (RL1000/Rl-1, Republic Locomotive, 3/1992) was sitting at the Fox Chase Station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a "wire train", just over 11 railroad miles from Center City. SEPTA's small fleet of diesel locomotives include models produced by EMD, Republic, Brookville and Knxoville (KLW), and are used for non-revenue purposes. The line was out of service that weekend while overhead catenary was being replaced as this train moved on the line of the same name. The line once extended an additional 15 miles all of the way to Newtown, Pennsylvania, but service just beyond the crossing in the background was ended in 1983.
