On this day, the 144-year-old steam locomotive Ed 3/3 # 3 “LANGNAU”, built in 1881 by SLM Winterthur for the Emmental Railway, was transported from the Swiss Museum of Transport's external storage facility in Rain to the Emmental and unloaded in Biglen. From there, it continued by rail to the workshop of the Bern Steam Railway in Konolfingen, where the locomotive will be restored to working order by May 2025. The locomotive comes from the Dr. Ernst Dübi Foundation of the Swiss Museum of Transport (VHS) and was handed over to DBB under a 5-year loan agreement. The 150th anniversary of the Emmental Railway will be celebrated on May 17/18, 2025. The goal is to have this locomotive operational again to this date.
