It’s a cold, but sunny afternoon in the South Side of Chicago, as Canadian National’s daily L536 transfer job from Glenn Yard to Kirk Yard is seen racing out of Downtown Chicago while paralleling the South Shore and Metra Electric Line near 47th Street in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood, just a short few blocks away from the Museum of Science and Industry. The ‘class unit’ on the former Illinois Central roster, IC SD70 1000, Is teamed up with IC SD70 1019, as they are in charge of the days lengthy L536 on the former IC Chicago District, making a scene that was identical in the 90’s. Since the late 1990’s, the line has been under Canadian National ownership as the CN Chicago Subdivision, and both the 1000 and 1019 still wear their Illinois Central Deathstar scheme from Illinois Central days.
