One Two Five On 1/25. Amtrak Train 290 (Ethan Allen Express) was led by AMTK 125 (P42DC, Phase VII) on the afternoon of Saturday, January 25, 2025, seen here passing though the Town of Cortlandt on the eastern shore of the Hudson River. The locomotive wears the newest Amtrak paint scheme, a lively combination of red, white, and blue that is applied to not only the new Siemens ALC-42s, but also the older GE P42s as they go through repair and overhaul at the railroad's Beech Grove shop. Though diesels were once a rare sight on Empire Service trains, they have become slights more common as current service requires additional power to double end trains in order to turn them on the platform in Penn Station.
