In 2022 SBB Cargo ordered 35 Siemens "Vectron" locomotives, leased for 8 years. This is being handled by the lessor NorthRail in cooperation with the Swiss bank Reichmuth AG. NorthRail and Reichmuth will lease the locomotives to SBB Cargo for eight years. The lease agreement also includes maintenance of the vehicles for the same period, which Siemens will carry out at SBB Cargo. The first machines have now been in Switzerland for a few weeks and training of locomotive crews has begun at some locations. Scheduled freight trains are being hauled. The locomotive for 15000 V 16.7 Hz AC weighs 86 tons, has an output of 6400 kW and is licensed in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. In Switzerland, a maximum of 120 km/h is permitted according to train series A. Locomotives 193 # 062 (91 80 6193 062-7 D-NRAIL) and 193 # 066 (91 60 6193 066-8 D-RCM)(RCM=Rail Care and Management GmbH, D-82319 Starnberg/Germany) in multiple control are running through Hohtenn on the Lötschberg south ramp with train 60023 from Lausanne via Martigny-Sion-Brig to the Limmattal shunting yard via Lötschberg (mountain line planned, sometimes through the base tunnel)-Thun-Zollikofen-Burgdorf-Olten-Brugg (this day via Lenzburg-Heitersberg). Train load was gross 880 ton.
