A year ago, when FEC debuted its new Grupo paint with an "open house", the frame of FEC SD40-2 #719 sat in the corner of the shops. They were building a geometry car of sorts, taking a page out the NS handbook. First, they outfitted a couple of their own locomotives and a couple of Brightline's to view the tracks instead. Now this. Ending years of visits from the NS Geometry train, which always resulted in mixed power assignments. Instead of FEC running a dedicated work train, they simply add the ATIV to an existing train's consist. It seems to stay running quite a bit, having debuted right after the Toys For Tots special in December.
