On the afternoon of January 27th, 2025, Central Vermont Railway (CV) caboose 4009 rests in the snow at the Ronald F. Kilburn Transportation Museum & Depot in Swanton, Vermont. This location marks the eastern terminus of the 96-mile St. Johnsbury & Lamoille County Railroad (StJ&LC) main line, which once connected the CV interchange in Swanton to St. Johnsbury, Vermont. In the distance, the trusses of the former West Milton Bridge are visible which replaced the original StJ&LC Swanton Covered Railroad Bridge. Today, the bridge carries the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, which follows the entire 96-mile former right of way.
