Winter Blues. On the night of Sunday, January 19, 2025, New Jersey Transit's Conrail Heritage Unit, GP40PH-2B NJTR 4208 (ex-CR 3191, née-Penn Central 3191, EMD, GP40, 10/1968) led Train 2129 on the Pascack Valley Line in the snow. The train is arriving at the Montvale Station, the last stop in New Jersey before the three in New York State. Though the service here was powered by the unique fleet of GE U34CH locomotives, Conrail was the passenger service operator for this line from 1976-1983, and continued to provide freight service until 1999.
Photos of the Pascack Valley Line. This railroad was built as the New Jersey and New York RR, falling under the control of Erie, Erie Lackawanna, Conrail and NJDOT before present passenger operator New Jersey Transit and freight carrier Norfolk Southern.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
