Market Service In The City. On the night of Tuesday, March 18, 2025, CSX L017-18 made the trip from Oak Point Yard to the Hunts Point Market in the Bronx, New York. On this night, CSXT 6227 (née-BO 4328, GP40-2, 2/1979) brought over a substantial cut of refrigerated boxcars and a single hopper. The Hunts Point Market opened in November, 2005 to replace the Fulton Fish Market as well as consolidate other food delivery. It is served by CSX and has substantial direct trucking access for distribution. Perhaps the most common questions associated with this branch from the railfan perspective is "what is the schedule", and the (dreaded but) correct answer is "none, service customers as needed", so the only way to know what what will happen is to show up and observe movement from a public area. Slowly moving into the Hunts Point Market Entrance, the train passes over the Lafayette Avenue crossing. The market itself is not a public area.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
