"Classic Colors @ New Hampshire’s First Amtrak Stop"
On February 24th, 2024, Amtrak P42DC #145, painted in Phase III heritage, leads southbound Vermonter Train 57 into the station at Claremont, New Hampshire on the New England Central Railroad (NECR) Palmer Subdivision. Originally built by the Boston and Maine Railroad in 1920, Claremont became New Hampshire's first Amtrak station since the "Montrealer" began stopping there in 1972. This service was replaced by the current "Vermonter" service in 1995.
The successor to the Montrealer, the Vermonter runs between St. Albans, Vt., and Washington, DC. Much of the northern part of the route runs along the Connecticut and White Rivers.
