Heritage Style Meet At Park & Market. San Diego MTS PCC 529 (ex-San Francisco Municipal Railway 1122, née-St. Louis Public Service 1716, St. Louis Car Company, 1946) was the first heritage car restored for the Silver Line in San Diego, California, rebuilt in house by the SDMTS Shop and given this number as the last original San Diego PCC was 528. On March 29, 2012, it had a passing meet with SDMTS U2 Car 1043 at the Park & Market Station. While this car 1043 was subsequently retired and scrapped, the "original" San Diego 1043 was actually former a Metropolitan Street Railway car that was brought to the west coast during World War II for enhanced wartime service after retirement from service in New York City, and is today part of the Western Railway Museum collection. The Silver Line started as a heritage line on the Downtown Loop in 2011. SDMTS has since added former Twin Cities 529/NJ Public Service 10 PCC as car 530 and SDMTS U2 1001, the first new Trolley for the reborn line in 1981. Since the pandemic, the Silver Line only operates on holidays, so check their website before traveling.
