Remarks & Notes
Brand new "ServiceJet" rescue, maintenance and fire fighting train X 122 # 005 (99 81 9173 011-3) built by StadlerRail for the austrian ÖBB in Erlen. The train came self propelled in electric mode as train 32526 from Altenrhein (Stadler plant) via Romanshorn VL to Erlen (Stadler Commissioning centre). StadlerRail will deliver 18 of this tri-mode (electro/diesel/battery) 3 car trains for up to 160 km/h, this particular train # 005 was exhibited at the Innotrans in Berlin in 2024. The “Service Jets” are not only used for emergencies, but also used for technical assistance and maintenance work, such as tunnel maintenance, supplying power of broken-down trains or embankment wetting. They are equipped with various devices and systems including outer skin wetting for use at high temperatures, protective for use in high temperatures, protective ventilation and oxygen supply for use in low-oxygen and/or flue gas environments, jet fans to support the air flow direction in the tunnel, water monitors and foaming agents for extinguishing and cooling, perimeter lighting for maintenance work and lifts for mobile equipment weighing up to 500 kg. The “service jets” have a two-country approval according to TSI LOC&PAS with train control systems ETCS BL3.6 and PZB, which allows them to be used on all main and secondary lines lines in the Austrian network. With a maximum speed of 160 km/h, they can be operated on the network in regular service.
