Return of the Redbirds.
On Friday, April 4, 2025, the NY Transit Museum operated a "Train to the Game" nostalgia ride on the IRT Flushing Line using a train of eight "Redbird" cars from the 1960s! The train is seen here approaching 40th Street-Lowery Street Station with the Manhattan and Long Island City, Queens skylines dominating the background. The NYTM had not run nostalgia rides on the IRT Flushing Line since CBTC signalling was installed on the line, so transit enthusiasts flocked to the line for the historic event. The consist included: R36WF no.s 9586-7, R36 no.s 9542-3, R33 no.s 9068-9, and R33 no.s 9206-7.
