A pair of inbound trains race each other to New York City's Grand Central Terminal early in the morning. On the left, on Track 1, is Connecticut Department of Transportation train 3505, a New Haven Line train that originated in New Haven, Connecticut, consisting of Kawasaki M8 Electric Multiple-Unit cars. Next to it, on Track 3, is Metro-North Railroad train 8704, a Hudson Line train from Croton-Harmen NY (with MNCW P32AC-DM 225 shoving on the rear). Each is about to enter a tunnel under the streets of Manhattan to click off the final four miles (6.4 km) to Grand Central Terminal so that their passengers can get to their jobs.
