Remarks & Notes |
Tasik Madu #6 nicknamed "the beast" is resting outside the shed waiting for a next assignment. This locomotive has been built by Orenstein & Koppel in Germany in 1929 and uses the Luttermoller system of articulation to allow it to negotiate tight curves. Whilst normally referred to as an 0-10-0 in fact the leading and end driving wheels are not connected to the centre drivers by means of coupling rods but instead a geared system is used to transmit the power. #6 was in 2006 the largest steam locomotive used in all the sugar mills on the Javanese island.
