Back when the Mississippi River flooded in 1993, railroads did some crazy detours over the spring/summer. A few trains took some crazy routes to make it to their destination. That seems stupid compared to the nowadays attitude to "just run the trains through the water." Back then money didn't run the railroad!
In 1993 the CP detoured over the BN from Davenport to Savanna and then from Ottumwa to Savanna while they could. Here a CP detour is northbound on the Peavine as they approach Ebner, south of Savanna.
