Remarks & Notes |
An old shot from 1983. 46229 Duchess of Hamilton makes an impressive start from Hellifield station with the Cumbrian Mountain Express, a main line special for Carlisle. This locomotive, owned by the National Railway museum was steamlined when built in 1937, but the streamlining was removed after the war. It is now not steamable and has just had its streamlining replaced and will be a static exhibit at the Museum in York. |
