Remarks & Notes
This loco, Stanhope, was built by Kerr Stuart & Co. of Stoke on Trent in 1917 as works number 2395. First sold to Holloway Brothers of Inverkeithing for use on construction work, in 1930 it transferred to Durham County Water Board, then in 1934 to the Penrhyn Quarry in North Wales. By 1948 the loco was out of use, and remained on the scrap siding for a considerable number of years. In 1966 it was rescued for preservation, but continued deteriorating until restoration began in 1994. It was steamed again 1999 and is now a resident at The West Lancshire Light Railway, where it seen here at Hesketh Bank, waiting for passengers. Note the ticket lady having a read as she waits for someone to book a ticket.
