The crew of 'Lord Nelson' look out at the photographer as they sweep through the curve at Kinchley Lane. The locomotive, which belongs to the National Railway Museum and therefore the Nation was at the Great Central Railway for trials before returning to mainline duties. The 4 cylinder Lord Nelson class built in 1926 by the Southern Railway were at the time the most powerful 4-6-0s in the country. More information on the machine http://www.erps.co.uk/850/History.html
