April 6th, 2008 is a day I will never forget. Half of this crew's battle was just getting out of the cab. The SD60 almost looks like a monster coming out of the great unknown. With a single day snowfall total of 27 inches on Sunday alone... and a storm total of over 33 inches over two days, this is the single heaviest snow event I've ever witnessed. The crew was awesome in letting me photograph their amazing battle to get the train to Cass Lake. There is a hi-rail truck stuck in a four foot snow drift right behind me, the crew of the train is going to assist him in clearing a switch so they can meet their counter-part the M-MINSUP in the yard. The EMD Oakway SD60's are quite low on my preference list for power, it just so happened the two trains I saw on this day BOTH had a pair of these faded blue and white beasts. Going through these older photos makes me eager for winter. Full story and video here.
