1954-built 1500v DC locos nos. 76 022 and 76 023 at rest at Reddish TMD way back in March 1979. Note that the forward loco still carries the old 1957-style BR totem on the side, even though the loco was painted in the corporate blue. This is indeed a historic scene. This class of loco has all been scrapped apart from one preseved example. The line that they worked was closed back in the eighties and there are now no overhead DC lines left in Britain. The depot was demolished years ago and built on. The vintage 1970s Vauxhall car will have been scrapped many years ago. |
