The hills echo with the sounds of EMD 645 engines as NS SD40-2s 3374 and 3342 shove hard on the rear of an eastbound loaded coal train as it digs in for the climb to the summit. NS 3373 and 3368 sit next to Building B, the Cresson Engine House. Three of the four SD40-2s were part of order number 767078, 37 units built for Conrail between August and October 1977. Even though they are now consecutively numbered, NS 3373 (build number 767078-31) was built as CR 6434 and NS 3374 (build number 767078-33) was CR 6436, separated by CR 6435 (now CSX 8830).
