Remarks & Notes |
After dumping the first 20 cars of their 83 cars gravel train the crew is running their twin SD70MACs north up the mainline so they can cross back over and come down the Coastal Siding and couple to the north end of their train and continue the unloading process. This northward view shows the power approaching the control point at CP1072. The double track main and CTC are reminiscent of class 1 operations in the lower 48 and illustrate how modern and progressive an operation the ARR is. The track in the foreground leads into Alaska Metals recycling, a good ARR customer and the location where many surplus railcars are scrapped. Note: the photographer is a railroad employee and was wearing all required PPE while taking this photograph. |
