Remarks & Notes |
513 crosses the partially-frozen Susquehanna with an excellent set of power. This scenic but seldom photographed bridge is on the former Wilkes-Barre Connecting Railroad, a terminal railroad which was jointly owned by the Pennsylvania Railroad and Delaware & Hudson. Built mostly to serve the anthracite coal reserves in the region, it's highly unlikely that anyone involved in the construction of this bridge envisioned it becoming an important part of Canadian Pacific's link into the northeastern United States. |
