Remarks & Notes |
A group of fog frosted trees meet BNSF Railway's Denver-Provo 'Q' train at the west switch Soldier Summit. It's all downhill from here, folks! The QDVPVJ has about 50 miles of track to go (and 3000 feet of elevation to descend) prior to reaching the joint Utah Railway yard at Provo. Traces of snow removal are evident along the side of the fill. Union Pacific Maintenance of Way forces utilize a ballast regulator to keep the rails clear of drifting snow while shovels and brooms keep CTC controlled switch points clear. The MOW folks also maintain the switch heaters to keep operations 'fluid' as temperatures drop well below freezing. |
