In March of 2007, the Union Pacific ran an 'Overland Route Super Stack Train' west between Global One in Chicago and the Port of Los Angeles. Pictured on the Lynndyl Subdivision some 25 miles west of Salt Lake City, the UP 5666 and company pull the 186 load and 12,322 ton train west up the Erda hill grade. The train was set up at Global One in 3x3 DPU configuration and was 12,703 feet in length. In the background of this spectacular vantage point is Utah's Stansbury Island on the northwestern shore of the Great Salt Lake. If you look closely you can spot the fill of the former Western Pacific Shafter Subdivision and Interstate 80 along the south shore of the lake leading west toward Nevada and California.
