In with the old and in with the new Atlanta is a constantly changing city, since the 1996 Olympics the city has seen a surge of new development as the inner city has transformed to a collection of rundown abandoned factorys and projects to new apartments and new commercial development. This photo gives a glimpse of the situation. The old warehouse at Jones Avenue has been renovated and is now known as the Giant Lofts. Just down the street can be seen the new Georgia Aquarium which has greatly helped gentrify this stretch of Marietta St. In the foreground Jones Avenue now crosses the tracks on a new bridge, with the old one being torn down last year, the abutments are still visible above the lead unit. The mix of old and new applys to the area's railroads as well as evidenced by the pair of GE's, one in LMSX paint and the other in CSX YN3.
