Remarks & Notes
The Southern Pacific was known for its interesting consists, and here we see a rare, ten-year-old GP40X (SP only had four), 2873 (a GP9 from late 1956, wearing the colors of the ill-fated SP / Santa Fe merger) and a trio of GE B39-8E diesels built less than an year earlier. Dolores Yard, in Carson, California, is the location on a bright May 1988 day.
