Remarks & Notes |
The nine ex Milwaukee Road SDL39's spent almost all their time patrolling the WC's Upper Michigan trackage. The transfer job between the twin Soo's always rated one until the International bridge was strengthened and the Marquette line normally rated at least 3 of them for service to Baraga and Trout Lake. After the WC started running the Port Inland limestone trains normally three more of them were assigned there. The odd couple not needed for these operations were kept nearby so units could be rotated out due to failures. On this cloud free fall morning 590 leads 6003 and 61 cars on train GLSOA past some colorful maples east of Caffey. |
