Remarks & Notes
Every five years, in Amsterdam an event happens, called 'Sail'. From all over the world, tall ships come a few days to Amsterdam for a big happening. In 2005, for 'Sail 2005', NS decided to do something special for this event. One car of an doubledeck-EMU was placed on a barge and transformed into a sailing boat. And so, during a few weeks prior to Sail, this 'boattrain' visited a lot of harbours in the west of the Netherlands. So also Volendam which had a railwaystation (line from Edam) from 1906 until 1932. I have rarely seen such surprised faces. In the Netherlands, a skipper has got to have a vision of 140 degrees, so a few extra windows just beside the windscreen had to be sawed out.
