Remarks & Notes |
I think this is the first time I've seen something other than GP40-2 power for the UP Colorado Springs, but UP 1203 has an interesting story beyond that. It was built in 1977 for Kennecott Copper Co. as KCCX 782, and it was built with a unique high-cab for use in the mines. The cab was lowered in 1984 but the fuel tank remained the same. This unit found its way to the MKT and then eventually onto the UP. It was recently repainted with a fresh coat of Armour Yellow. |
