Remarks & Notes
As there is one way traffic for boats through the upcoming tunnel, the boats have to wait until the traffic light shows green. Nice time to spot trains, which runs along the channel. The 313 km (194 mi) long channel was opened in 1853. The channel is suited for small boats only. It has 154 locks. The train tunnel of Arzviller is with 2690m / 3000 yd the longest tunnel on route Strasbourg to Nancy. He was built between 1846 and 1850.
