Remarks & Notes |
Boy do I miss the Raritan River. Here we see one of their six cherry-condition SW900s getting ready to help re-rail a tank car that turned a rail. This little railroad was a wholly owned subsidiary of Conrail. The employees were friendly and the trains could often be found working on the south side of South Amboy. Unfortunately, the railroad's only connections were its parent on both ends. The railroad first became part of Conrail (with the SW900s going blue) and then this part of it, in South Amboy was abandoned. |
