It's been decades since the last train of Carbon County coal departed from the small town of Clear Creek, Utah. The D&RGW held hope that the last active mine would return to service, so the Pleasant Valley Branch was left in place. That was back in the early 1960's! In contemporary times, the clear waters of Mud Creek have washed away much of the right of way leaving behind little more than a dream that service will return. Since the tipple was torn down in the 1980's, it is unlikely the upper few miles of the Pleasant Valley Branch will feel the rumble of a passing train again.
