Remarks & Notes
One from the archives: Quite by chance, I caught up with Union Pacific's Park City Local with a trio of vintage GP30's (#806, 718, 805) curving north along Silver Creek approaching Wanship, Utah. This train is returning from the appropriately named 'Phoston' loadout, with 10 loads of phosphate, trucked from the Vernal, Utah area. The cars will eventually make their way to a fertilizer plant in Canada. By 1986 the show was over along the branch when a new slurry pipeline in Wyoming replaced the need for rail service. After abandonment, the right of way was preserved for hikers and bikers sandwiched between the busy lanes of Interstate 80.
