Remarks & Notes |
A Historic Shadow - This is a view looking out the open door of baggage car 101 on the east side of the train as it creeps slowly across Hurricane Gulch Bridge affording passengers one of the ARR's signature views. The three car pocket streamliner can be seen in silhouette atop the bridge's shadow nearly 300 ft below. Speed is limited to 10 MPH across the 900 ft span but most passenger trains stop to allow the passengers a few minutes to simply take it all in. The Aurora makes a 12 hr journey to Fairbanks every Saturday and returns each Sunday providing the only scheduled winter time passenger train service on the ARR. It is simply a delight to behold, and an experience 180 degrees different from the summer trains.
