Remarks & Notes
TOFC business on the RF&P really started to mushroom in the early 1970s, much in part because of UPS. The piggyback ramp at Potomac Yard became increasingly important, with most of the southbound traffic originating there. Solid TOFC hotshot No. 175 was laden with a heavy train of "Florida Points" traffic as it pounded through Doswell in Sept. 1973, led by GP35 No. 133. As an aside, most of the industry in Doswell was forest products related. The wood chip operation to the left was just one example. That operation was switched by C&O and the traffic was destined to the huge Westvaco paper mill at Covington, VA.
