Remarks & Notes |
Railroading at 30 below! - A pair of GP38s lug a long string of loaded tank cars over the Chena River bridge on their way back from North Pole (home of the Flint Hills Refinery - ARR's largest customer) to the Fairbanks yard. This seldom photographed pony truss bridge is on the grounds of the US Army's Fort Wainwright. Railfanning in this type of weather can be tough as well. A short sprint down the hill to get in position caused some serious pain. Deep breathing pulled the super cold air into the lungs and left me with a burning sensation all day...live and learn! Such is life in the great white north... |
